DIVINITY OF AFRICA

Welcome, Divine Beauty 💫

First of all, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your interest in my jewelry and for taking the time to visit my website. I'd love to take a moment to share a bit about myself and the story behind my brand.

My name is Amanda, and I was born in Geneva, Switzerland. My heritage is beautifully diverse, my mother is of Central African and Arawak descent (an Indigenous Caribbean people), and my father is Swiss-German. My origins are a fundamental part of who I am, and they shape everything I create.

I’ve always had a deep love for body jewelry, though I often struggled to find pieces that truly resonated with me. So, I began crafting my own. What started as a personal passion soon became something I realized others around the world might be searching for too, jewelry that celebrates sensuality, heritage, and individuality. That’s when Divinity of Africa was born.

The name reflects both my deep admiration for ancient mythologies, from Greco-Roman goddesses to Egyptian deities — and my African roots. Much of my work is inspired by traditional African waist beads, known as bayas, which have long symbolized beauty, sensuality, and feminine power.

Bayas are traditionally worn by women to highlight and celebrate their curves. Often made from beads, they are both ornamental and symbolic, a quiet, radiant celebration of the body. In my collections, you’ll find reinterpretations of these ancestral adornments, alongside other forms of body jewelry, crafted from a variety of materials.

Each piece I create is versatile. Waist beads that can also be worn as necklaces, anklets, or bracelets, and each one carries its own story.

All my jewelry is handmade with care, passion, and intention, crafted in Geneva, Switzerland.

Thank you again for visiting, and I hope you will enjoy the beauty, the craftsmanship, and the essence behind each piece.

The inspiration behind the DIVINITY OF AFRICA logo:

The logo of the brand takes its inspiration from the majestic African savannah elephant. While the lion is often considered the symbol of Africa, I believe the elephant truly deserves the title of king of the savannah. Known for its impressive tusks and large ears, the elephant commands respect. Its grandeur allows it to glide through the savannah with quiet elegance, moving unnoticed, while no other creature dares to challenge its presence.

To enhance this symbol of strength, I turned to the heavens. As a child, I was captivated by the tales of Greco-Roman gods, and in designing my jewelry, I wanted to infuse it with a divine touch. This path led me naturally to explore African deities, connecting my creations to my roots. That’s when I discovered Oshun, the goddess of the Yoruba people from West Africa, particularly Nigeria. She governs rivers and waterways and is always depicted wearing beautiful golden adornments. Inspired by Oshun, you will find divine jewelry that adorns the elephant, adding a sacred and celestial dimension to the design.
